This week's I♥Faces challenge was Silhouettes, which means I get to show off a cool picture that was a complete accident.

There's a tunnel in town that connects two parks, I'm sure the locals know of it. During our springtime photoshoot, I had tried to take a photo of Jake in the tunnel with a bright flash, but it was too dark for it to look good. As we're walking out, I was holding the camera up, and just holding down the button until we were out of the tunnel, and I got this cool photo:

(Note: The little boy was a stranger, I tried editting him out, but it looked weird, and since you can't see his face, I left him in.)

Fix-it Friday

So today I♥faces is holding another Constructive Fix-it Friday! Users can post their photos along with their own edits and ask for help from the professionals and other users. I had a lot of fun fixing the photos last time, so I'm going to post them here instead of in the comments like I did last time. You can click to the orginal post through the title I made up for each photo fix. If you want me to remove your photo let me know through a comment! :)

I used paintshop pro 8 to correct all these, mostly using curves and histogram adjustments. I'm also definitely not a pro, just a random passer-by offering advice :)

iheartfaces post again, this time the experts over there are offering help to those who need it- Me being a complete newb at photography- I definitely need it!

Edit to add: No idea about the camera info, I have a simple digital coolpix point and shoot that is several years old.

I love this photo of Jake, it's light and sunny and the subject is gorgeous ;) But it seems to me to lack that extra Oomph that makes it a GREAT photo.

I edited it slightly here: 

just a quick zap of black and white and some evening out of his skin (poor boy constantly has a red face.) and a crop. But the crop now seems awkward and weird and I'm out of ideas! Help Iheartfaces! Help! :)

IHeartBestFriends

IheartFaces' Adult Category Challenge was Best Friends. I definitely had a lot of photos to chose from- a crazy one with me and Colleen, a cute one with me and Nikki freaking out because we were about to meet Anthony Rapp!! But the category is best friend, and I'm sorry Coco and Nikki,you guys are my oldest and greatest friends, but Jake definitely wears the Best Friend Crown.

Besides the fact that he loves me enough to marry me, (for eternity no less!) Jake is one of the rare people that I can be me around. I don't have to put on any acts or pretend to be anything when I'm with him. He laughs at my lame puns and only mildly makes fun of my klutziness. He knows when to joke to make me feel better, and more importantly, when not to joke. He's been my rock during every low point in our lives together. He accepts my faults and wants me to do whatever I want to do and excel at it. He's constantly trying to make me smarter, and I love it, even if that means he lectures me on neutrinos or psychological theories. I cannot fathom my life if I had not met him, the good and the bad that's come with marrying him is well worth it because I get to be with him everyday. So here's my entry- Me and my Best Friend Jake on one of the best days of our lives:

Fix-it Friday and Iheartfaces Giveaway

So every friday I Heart Faces puts out an okay photo for people to jazz up in their photo-editing programs. Here's my take on this weeks:



The Original



I upped the saturation a bit, and used my program's histogram equalizer. Slapped a bit of text on there and presto, a whole new photo.

No You're Prettier!

I've recently found I ♥ Faces through a friend of a friend who blogs. It's a weekly photography challenge that focuses on, duh, faces! So I took Jake out into the woods to take spring-y pictures of him. He took photos of me too, which I put up in my facebook albums. I'll probably share the full-size graphicized photos later, as in a few weeks the challenge is self portraits and then me and my friend.

This week's challenge is to not use flash, which was easy in the super bright sun that we had today. Here's the photo I chose:
