So my fun vacation has been over for two weeks now. I started taking my art class, I absolutely LOVE it. I got to scribble (yes scribble, like a 2 year old on a wall.) on paper and then had to find shapes and figures. Very zen and artsy farsty. I really hate my biology class, it's a huge lecture and the professor is the mayor of dullsville. Luckily I know a few people in there so my lab group is fun to work with. I have a really old russian prof in my geography class, he has a VERY thick accent and refuses to use slides or hand-outs. half my notes are like "Culture: the grouping of (? look up in book) defined by (????????)" It's very difficult to pay attention when you can understand about every other phrase. My sociology class is fairly average, lecture, slides, essays and tests. All very ho-hum.

The apartment is a BIT* of a mess right now, due to my art supplies taking up one side of the living room. Hopefully I'll muster up the courage to clean out the office/storage room and be able to have a makeshift "art studio". *= huge dang mess that is sprawling EVERYWHERE

I'm hoping to be able to update here with the phrase "I HAVE A STEADY JOB!" sometime in the next two weeks, I did have a nannying job sorta lined up, but it fell through. =(

I did go to the hospital last sunday, I was have major sharp pains in my sides that I could barely breathe, and Jake took me to the ER and the doctor first scared us with the "oh, you totally could be pregnant" and then came back a half hour later saying "oh, no just a bad UTI/kidney infection. take some pills." So I am healthy, no longer in pain and finished my antibiotics. =D

Fairy Tale

Once upon a time there was a young girl, named Stacy. Stacy and her roommate, Erin, decided to walk to the college that they both attended to see the annual Highlander Festival. After viewing all the booths, and buying a few christmas gifts for family and friends, Erin and Stacy walked past a concession stand, where lo and behold, was their friend from church- Candy. As it turns out, Candy and her sister Christine, and a few other friends from the family ward in town, were running the concession stand! Stacy and Erin were very amused and proceeded to laugh and chit-chat with Candy. This laughter caught the attention of the Boss, who then offered Stacy and Erin one-day jobs to help them out with the lunch and dinner rushes (as it was just after noon.) Now Stacy and Erin are very nice girls, and have been taught by their mothers never to deny a friend in need, they accepted and worked for the group for near 6 hours. They laughed and joked and played with their friends when it was slow, but also worked hard and did their share. And that is how Stacy and Erin earned $35 for going to a festival.

:) I got some really cool photos from it too.

Fall's HERE!

I walked out today to walk to my class and was pleasantly surprised at the brisk wind and crunchy leaves on the ground. It's been hovering around 75-85 degrees down here and now, finally we've reached the 50s! :) Of course it was an overnight turnaround so a lot of kids on campus were grumbling, but Roommate 2.0 and I couldn't stop smiling! We bundled up in our coats and skipped through the leaves. We're "glass half full" kind of people.

The photo in this entry is of Tyler Hall, which is near the computer center where I practically live. They have really REALLY fast internet there and huge double screens for photo-editing. It's like heaven.

Tonight I made a REAL dinner, not just instant food, and I was very proud of myself. I made spare ribs, salad and corn on the cob (YUM) I had no one to share it with, but that just means lots of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. :)

Wedding CountDown: 71 Days

Just keeping the blogsphere up-to-date on the wedding and planning of the wedding.

We've moved the actual marriage up one day to the 14th in Washington DC =D, the reception will still be in our hometown the next day (Lots of Traveling involved)

Dress will be here soon, I'm working on finding a good seamstress to do any alterations.

Bridesmaids are busy working on their jobs, Susanne gets to help me with reception things, Mae is in charge of beauty in DC.

Jake is in charge of money and legal stuffs. He gets to do a lot of paperwork, which he seems to prefer over debating with me about favors. He is also looking for an apartment/house for us- hopefully not too far away from school.

speaking of school, I've been thinking about my major and future job possibilities... It's possible that I may be switching my major (I'm really not loving French in general, let alone my French class.) to graphic design/art etc. Depends on how my advisers take the news, how much work I'd have to do to catch up credit-wise, if I could still graduate in 2010 etc.etc. lotsa ifs and buts and very possible that I just won't switch.

Hey Guys!

Long time, no post-
story of my life.

I guess I just don't have much to tell- school is going okay. I'm not too thrilled with my French class cause it's boring as all get out, but I'll survive.

Wedding plans are still full-steam ahead. I'm obsessing over invites right now. Color, font ,style, graphic, photos. all tiny little details that only I seem to care about.

I ordered my dress, that was exciting. it should be here by the end of october.

much love!

Update

I am still internetless at the apartment (I'm dying slowly...) but I have a few spare moments in the library so I figured I'd keep you guys posted on my life.

School is going fabulously. I love my classes. Especially my american literature one, the professor, Mr. Cox (I have to try not to call him Dr. Cox and giggle.) is funny and smart. We have great discussions about social differences and how world events greatly affect literature. The class really proves to me how important blogs are. ;) Think about it. Back then, when Anne Bradstreet and all them pilgrims were keeping journals, they never thought that in 2007 a bunch of college students would be studying their writing. So, in 3007, some college kids may be floating near mars, reading our blogs and learning about our world. It's kind of interesting to think about it that way.

Roommate 2.0 and I are getting along very well. We haven't had to fight over the bathroom or anything like that. It also helps that our schedules rarely overlap. She's in class before I'm awake, and she's asleep before I come back. We're both addicted to NCIS though, we spent last weekend watching a good amount of it. (I have yet to show her the one where Kate dies, it's too tragic.)

Wedding plans aren't full speed ahead, We have a date (December 15th) but we have yet to finalize a location of the ceremony, what kind of ceremony. too many what ifs and such to be for sure either way. But his mother and mine are gonna be in contact ( I can see them plotting against me now =D ) and hopefully, we'll get started on sending out invites. (to all 300 of you. jeez big families....) I also have some plans with Susanne to get her her bridesmaid dress, She found a few she likes online.

Well, spare moment is gone- and I have to get to class . =D

New Semester!

Well, I'm about 1/2 way through my first week of my new semester at University, and so far it seems pretty average. My apartment complex kindly offers an hourly bus to and from campus, and my classes are fairly easy. I'm taking Math & Human Society (it's math for people who say "I'll never use this in real life!") Advanced French Grammar & Composition, Intro to International Relations and American Lit. Mostly gen ed stuff, cause you can only take one french class at a time.

Jake and I finished registering at Target, and we ordered our wedding bands, for which I am VERY excited cause mine is pretty and sparkly and there will for sure be many photos of it up here. And I really like Jake's too, it's not just a plain band- it's titanium with a gold stripe on it, very nifty. Now I just want to get the invites done for a reasonable price (hallmark had the nerve to ask for $300 plus for 150 invites. and we need about 300.) I'm open to any and all ideas for that. Though, I'm thinking e-mailing the invites would be a tad tacky.

I'm Back!

My mom and I made it safely back to school! (Though we saw many truckers who did not.) Now I'm updating from my new room in my new apartment. =D I'll have photos once I've finished cleaning up and organizing. Mom was awesome and went to Wal-Mart like, 50683 times for me. Jake and Susanne lifted heavy boxes and we enjoyed some subs after.

I'm looking forward very much to starting school, finding an amazing job (aka less work for more money.) and actually getting to plan the wedding!

The Future Mrs. Jake!!

That's right, the rumors are true! Jake and I are engaged! I haven't stopped grinning since he asked me sunday night. The ring is gorgeous, perfect and exactly what I wanted. I would go on and tell you all how he proposed and such, but as soon as I saw the jewelry box, I didn't quite hear what he said, other than "will you marry me?" and it took me good two minutes to actually respond besides "omigosh" and "WHAT?!"

We're planning on getting hitched on December 15th 2007. A little over six months away. It will be in Virginia, he has a larger family and a lot more of our friends live down there. (He's inviting 100+ people on his own. Plus my large family and NH friends, it will be a big wedding.) I'm greatly enjoying the planning, the bridal magazines and looking at thousands of dresses and flowers. I'm very excited about my bridesmaids, Mae will be my Maid of Honor! and then I have Jake's little sister, Susanne.

I'll definitely be updating this thing more often as more plans are made and exciting news and such.

I'm very VERY excited! :)

Yankee-Ville

I'm back in NH.

Whoo-hoo?

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy to be back with my family and friends from NH- but I'm missing my new friends like crazy. (Yes, and you too Jake =P ) But I am enjoying not having to wait 10 minutes for an elevator or walking in the rain on weekends to get breakfast. But there's no more 2 am 7-11 trips or eating when I feel like it, or staying up late just for the heck of it. Dang responsbility- it takes all the fun out of life ;)

In other news- The Queen is a great movie. Go rent it now.

Love y'all!

College Year One- OVER

I took my last final of my freshman year yesterday. Sold back my books (I spent $500 on them, got $94.25 back. Something is wrong with that.) and am finishing up my packing. Whoo-hoo!

The weather down here is matching my mood perfectly. Rain-y and dark. (wow. How emo did THAT sound...) I'm just upset about leaving all my new friends and Jake for almost four months. Though I'm 78% sure that Jake is coming up to NH for a visit sometime this summer. Or he better be. ;)

Tonight is Lindsay's Bridal Shower. (That's right. Two bridal showers within a week of each other. mormons!! ) Though I must say, I love shopping for brides. You get to look at registeries and shop for hours looking for cutesy things that you'd otherwise have no excuse looking at. (i.e whale shaped soap dishes.) my packaging was also Wicked themed- green and pink! It was totally adorable and girly perfect for a bridal shower.

I'll be home this time next week....weird.....

Craziness

Hey- go me, two posts in a month? that's an 100% improvement =D

I went to my friend Sunny's bridal shower on thursday. We ooh'd and ahh'd and devilishly giggled at the gifts.(Chocolate frosting, need I say more? ;) ) And we got to eat yummy fancy food, so what's not to love? and in the car ride I got to have a conversation with Sarah on how much she and her brothers hate Delilah- the radio personality.

Then, on friday, after my last class of the semester (psych. we learned about DID) I had the adventure of trying to contact Jake, whose cell-phone has died and so has his computer. It's like phone-tag without all the fun. But we did get to hang out and watch a movie (Deja vu) at his parents house (along with some interesting true-or-dare tricks from his little sister and her friend. They are adorable-y annoying)

then today, I was planning on going with the church to a day hike and dinner, but I woke up (after only 4 hours of sleep) with a headache and a room that needed to be packed and cleaned before friday. I spent most of the day vacuum packing my clothes and selling back my books to the bookstore. I also had to rearrange the room so it looked like it did when we moved it (Roommate had moved some stuff before I got there, so I got it at close as I remember.)

and I am sad to admit that today, I fell for the superglued quarter in my hallway... It's been there for a few weeks and apparently I forgot that it was glued down. I blame my fatigue :-P

and for your enjoyment: the reasoning behind my very very weird URL, the paradoxical-brainiac thing. It's entirely Jake's fault. (but then again, isn't everything his fault? =D) He is a walking paradox and an actual brainiac. but I suppose that my addiction to certain words is also to blame. I love how paradoxical looks. It looks complicated and smart. Even though I'm not 100% sure it's a real word... and any word with the letter "x" in it has to be hip and funky. I also didn't want to use my name (stalking, it's not fun) or my other screennnames as people might find out my super secret email address(es)

Hey. Updating. What a concept!

Y'all have Jake to thank for me updating this thing- he reminded me that I have it. =D

This is my last week of college!! Whoa. Aren't you surprised I lasted that long?! I actually only have two finals to study for- Psychology and US History. All my other classes had projects for finals or I tested out of the final.(yay french!) I'm kinda sorta slightly worried about my psych one cause they use those scary big words. (anything more than two syllables and I get confused.) History is insanely easy cause it hardly ever changes ;) I've also been super busy with packing up my room.
Ever since my roommate moved out, my stuff has magically expanded and taken over the room- I have no idea how I fit it all in one half of the space before. Luckily- Muse is having a community yard sale sometime (I think...) and I always have Ebay to sell things I don't need.

I'll be home by the 7th. Crazy to think about that. I'm excited for my summer nannying job- 4 adorable little kids. In all reality- I'm getting paid to do arts and crafts and play games! What could be better than that? (besides getting paid for being awesome- but no one can afford THOSE prices. ;P )

I'm chalking my recent decline in health to lack of sleep and lots of stress. I've been getting headaches more frequently and feeling nauseous at random times of the day. I'm hoping a week or so at home will make that a lot better.

in other good news- Nick @ Nite is showing Growing Pains reruns! I'm excited about that. I just wish they weren't shown at 4am.

LOVE.

Spring Break in Full Swing!

My very first college spring break and I'm no where NEAR a beach!! How upsetting!

But I am having a lot of fun down in Radford, I'm spending the week at Jake's sister and brother-in-law's home. They have an awesome house! I got my own room and they have wireless so I am not dying without internet. =D

I plan on spending most of my time working on my stupid english paper that is due after this week. Triple EW. but in my free time and when Jake is not working, we plan on spending time together. We've seen a few movies (300 is such a guy flick, arms getting chopped off, stabbing, I couldn't look at the screen.) and took a walk with his Mom and Dad. I'm hoping that we'll go to the museum soon (I want to see the star show!) and go out to eat at Outback SteakHouse, those are my exciting plans.

I'll be sure to update a lot this week, as I have my mornings free!
2.05.2007

Ohmigosh, I have been BUSY

I've been VERY busy with my test takingness. Lots of studying and the like. I'm starting my english research paper soon (We only have one major paper due the entire semester.) and I am still trying to figure out a topic, I was thinking on doing it on the death penalty, but that's a depressing topic!! I may do it on the importance of religion in a child's development- but it's kind of out there so there is not a lot of research done on it. We'll see won't we?

I have had a few more dates with Jake ;) He has acted like a perfect (yet VERY sarcastic) gentleman on each date- no worries there. We saw Dreamgirls- which was really good cause I happen to ADORE Broadway ;)

I'm off to go learn about france's judical system!!
1.19.2007

Two Down, Eighty Million more to go!

Second week of my second Semester is complete, and still the classes are smooth sailing. In my french class we are reading Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, one of my favorite authors. And Psychology is awesome because we get to watch video clips and then analyze the characters in them.

I am currently all dolled up and pretty-ful for a date I am going on tonight ;) It only took me two hours this time- with one frantic IM with my friend Tara and two photoshoots to decide and perfect one outfit. I'd love to give more info on what the date actually consists of, but besides times, I know nothing! Jake (the Date) was planning everything and didn't ask or seem to need my help. Hopefully I'll be able to post tonight with all the wonderful details!

I got a very nice card from my great uncle all the way from hawaii- it was a wonderful surprise and greatly appreciated and wonderfully timed as I needed some extra money to buy schoolbooks. (Computer Tech alone has cost over $200 for two books, two software programs and one flashdrive.)

Now I'm about to be late, so TTFN!

Heal me, I'm Heartsick

Today marks the end of my first semester at College. Finals and such are all over. And I am here to say, it wasn't too bad. (Though Stats can go shove it.) I have survived, and at some points I even enjoyed the experience. I can only pray that next semester will be so nice to my poor brain. At least I won't have University 100 anymore!!!

The Holidays are coming up! Even though I have yet to see REAL Snow, you know, the big flakes, the slushly streets and air so cold you can see your breath? All I've seen here at college is spitting little bits of snow, but nothing that has made it feel very christmas-y. I'm excited to go back up north and hopefully get snowed in AFTER my busride from heck. There ARE fun and funny christmas light displays here too though. The town has giant light up snowflakes on each lamppost and the trees are all decked out in colored lights. There is also my favorite, the inflatable Nativity Scene on the way to church. But it's nothing like the displays back home. No one really COVERS their house and yard in decorations. Odd really, you'd think the rednecks would be into that sort of thing. =D
